We're very excited to share more details about the highly anticipated return of OC Transpo Express Route 582 (formerly the 282), with service recommencing Monday, November 2nd. We're beyond thrilled to have been able to help restore this route after losing it in April 2025 in the New Ways to Bus program. And while we know that the return of the 582 only benefits a portion of the ward's residents, and that there are many other local transit challenges that we need to address, it's still very good news that OC Transpo has done this. More express routes equals better productivity for residents, and less congestion on our roads. And I've been working on addressing service gaps with the 82/282 since January 2026.
And just so you know, the reason it's called the 582 and not the 282 is because all of OC Transpo's express bus routes have 500-series route numbers.
OC Transpo has now added Route 582 to its website's
Route Schedules & Maps page, but you have to
select a date that is November 2nd or later.
We want to share some of the details here, not only to help riders plan their schedules. But it's very important that we pack the 582 in the first two weeks, because OC Transpo has told us that if there's enough demand, they'll add more runs to the 582. I plan to be on that first bus myself!
Below you'll see a map of the route, but here is the basic route info:
- For service heading to Tunney's Pasture, Route 582 will start at Craig Henry Drive / Ivylea Street (Stop ID: 4583) and end at Tunney's Pasture.
- For service returning from Tunney's, Route 582 will end at Craig Henry Drive / Woodvale (Stop ID: 4585).
- The 582 will head west along Craig Henry Drive, then cross over into Trend-Arlington, and will then proceed north along Greenbank Road. It will NOT dip into Morrison / Draper or into Pinecrest/IKEA like Route 82.
- The 582 will do the same stops as the 82 from Craig Henry / Ivylea until Greenbank / Lisa. From there, it will proceed non-stop to Tunney's Pasture
In terms of the schedule for Route 582, you can view the route schedule for each stop at our Google Drive, but here is the basic schedule info:
- There will be two runs of the 582 in the AM peak hours, and two runs of the 582 in the PM peak hours. These will run in between already-scheduled red of the 82.
- For AM peak service, the first 582 will depart Craig Henry / Ivylea at 6:44 a.m., arriving at Tunney's at 7:20 a.m.. The second 582 will depart Craig Henry / Ivylea at 7:45 a.m., arriving at Tunney's at 8:21 a.m.
- For PM peak service, the first 582 will depart Tunney's at 3:38 p.m., arriving at Craig Henry / Woodvale at 4:14 p.m. The second 582 will depart Tunney's at 4:48 p.m., arriving at Craig Henry / Woodvale at 5:14 p.m.
Now, let's pack that bus, Ward 9! We'll see you on November 2nd.
